What are the mission and role of Investor Relations (IR)?

Investor Relations develops a targeted financial communication policy, in compliance with the principles of equality and homogeneity of information processing. Its mission is to create a relationship of trust with the market, by being a source of reliable and relevant information to facilitate decision-making for investors as well as management, this in a very strict regulatory framework. His role is central in the implementation of the company’s objectives in terms of financial communication:

  • ensure, in its relations with the outside world, that market players value the company as much as possible over time, by explaining its strategy, business model, ecosystem and performance, both financial and extra-financial, by ensuring consistency between these two elements;
  • to be the reference interlocutor between market players and the company and its management, thus providing great added value through the feedback of useful information obtained in the market;
  • disseminate internally the Investor Relations culture, particularly on the management of privileged information and the entire particularly strict regulatory framework;
  • ensure the consistency of all forms of communication within the company.

What are the required qualities?

Due to the internationalization and growing complexity of financial markets, the diverse profile of stakeholders, regulatory constraints and the acceleration of information flow, the profession of Investor Relations has become transversal and multidisciplinary, requiring ever more skills and professionalism: finance, communication, legal, corporate strategy, governance, CSR, understanding of an increasingly changing global environment.
